Poland has signed a PLN 550 million ($143 million) agreement to develop and deploy four microsatellites, advancing the military’s space-based reconnaissance and operational capabilities.
The contract, signed at the Ministry of National Defense in Warsaw on December 20, includes collaboration with Polish company Creotech Instruments.
The satellites, developed under the Mikroglob program, will enhance imaging in visible light and infrared, supporting tactical and operational objectives for the Polish Armed Forces.
The satellites are set to operate in a low heliosynchronous orbit by 2027, with the first launch planned for 2026. The project is funded by the National Reconstruction Plan, utilizing European Union resources and emphasizing innovation by Polish entrepreneurs. Creotech Instruments, based in Piaseczno, will use its HyperSat platform to deliver the technology.
Deputy Minister Cezary Tomczyk noted that the ARGUS Agency, established in 2023, will manage the system domestically.
