Poland's government signed contracts worth over PLN 17 billion ($4.2 billion) with the Polish arms industry on December 23, for the delivery of military equipment, including KRAB self-propelled howitzers and K9 howitzer support vehicles.
The agreements were signed in Stalowa Wola, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda.
The contracts include 96 KRAB self-propelled howitzers, 250 accompanying vehicles for K9 howitzers, command and staff vehicles, ammunition transporters, and weapons repair workshops. The deal also includes training and logistics packages.
Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz highlighted that defense spending in 2025 would reach 4.7% of Poland's GDP, amounting to PLN 187 billion ($48.5 billion).
The agreements align with the modernization of the Polish armed forces, including the development of domestic ammunition production. The government has allocated an additional PLN 3 billion ($780 million) for constructing an ammunition factory to address the demand for 155 mm shells required by the KRAB howitzers.
Deputy Minister Paweł Bejda announced further contracts with the Polish arms industry, including a PLN 500 million ($130 million) deal for drone systems to support K9 howitzers, expected to be finalized shortly. “I want to assure you that this is not the last contract signed before the holidays… Tomorrow it will be possible to sign a contract at the Armament Agency concerning, among other things, drone systems that will protect K9,” the minister said.
