Iranian air defense units have intercepted a projectile simulating a hostile bunker-busting bomb using a domestically produced missile system during a military exercise near the Natanz nuclear facility in Isfahan Province.
The joint military drill, conducted by the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), tested air defense strategies to safeguard the Natanz site. The initial phase of the exercise focused on defending the nuclear facility from aerial threats, employing tactics that involved intercepting 30 targets, including drones and cruise missiles, at low altitudes.
Short-range systems, such as Dezful and Tor-M1, were deployed to neutralize these threats. Later, the Dey-9 air defense missile system demonstrated its capabilities by engaging a simulated bunker-busting bomb dropped from an aircraft. The missile system tracked and destroyed the target within 15 seconds, at a range of 17 kilometers from the site.
The IRGC Aerospace Force also utilized additional air defense systems during the drill to simulate electronic warfare scenarios.
On the eve of the exercise, the commander of the Khatam al-Anbia Air Defense Base disclosed the deployment of classified air defense systems near strategic sites.
