ANKA III, the Turkish-made unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), has fired an Aselsan-developed TOLUN missile from inside its fuselage, marking a milestone in its operational development.

The weapon was launched at an altitude of 20,000 feet while the drone was traveling at a speed of 180 knots.

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) emphasized that the drone’s use of its internal weapon station highlighted its engineering and operational proficiency. According to ASELSAN, the launch further underscored the operational flexibility of the ANKA III, particularly in the context of stealth missions.

The TOLUN missile is designed to carry up to eight air-ground munitions in a single sortie, allowing for simultaneous attacks on multiple targets. The missile is equipped with a GPS/INS navigation system and an IIR Seeker Head with man-in-the-loop capability, which allows operators to manually guide the missile during flight. With a range of approximately 100 km and a weight of 250 lbs, TOLUN is comparable to MK-81 bombs and can penetrate up to 1 meter of reinforced concrete.
