Netherlands Orders 13 Fast Interceptor Boats for Navy, Army

The Netherlands Defense has signed a contract with De Haas Shipyards in Rotterdam to deliver 13 Future Fast Interceptors (FFIs) for the Navy and Army, replacing the current Frisc vessels.

The agreement was finalized on March 10, with delivery expected within 3.5 years.

The new vessels are designed for high-speed operations, featuring sensor and communication systems, enhanced firepower, and reduced detectability. Innovations in the hull and seating aim to reduce physical strain on personnel during high-speed maneuvers in rough seas.

The FFIs will be used by the Maritime Special Operations Forces (MARSOF) of the Marine Corps for boarding and special operations in high-risk environments. The order also supports the Dutch maritime industry, though this was not a deciding factor in the contract.

The Interceptor DHM1050, the likely model chosen for the FFIs, has a length of 10.45 meters and can reach speeds of over 56 knots with three Yamaha F300B V6 engines. Its modular design allows for easy maintenance and customization, making it suitable for various military and professional tasks.
