Airbus has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with HYNAERO to support the Fregate-F100 project, a new amphibious firefighter aircraft designed to combat wildfires.
Through this agreement, Airbus will share its expertise to advance the project's next development stages.
The partnership is part of Airbus' Firefighting Ecosystem Ambition, which aims to provide integrated firefighting solutions. Airbus aircraft such as the C295 and A400M, along with helicopters, satellites, and communication systems, are used to detect and fight wildfires globally.
Airbus recently conducted tests with its A400M Roll-on/Roll-off firefighting kit, which can release 20,000 liters of water or retardant without modifying the aircraft. The C295 is also being developed for future firefighting missions, and Airbus' Pléiades Neo satellites provide high-resolution imagery to track wildfire damage.
Airbus' helicopters, including the H125 and H215, play a key role in wildfire suppression. The H215 can carry 4,000 liters of water and transport firefighters to remote locations. Airbus' communication solutions, such as Agnet and SAFEcommand, assist fire and rescue teams by enhancing real-time coordination during emergencies.
