China’s TP1000 unmanned cargo aircraft has completed its maiden flight in Shandong Province, marking progress in the country’s low-altitude logistics sector.
Developed by Yi-Tong UAV System Co., Ltd, the TP1000 flew for 26 minutes at an airport in Shandong, confirming its design and reliability, according to Science and Technology Daily. The twin-engine drone has a payload capacity of 1,000 kilograms, a maximum range of 1,000 kilometers, and a 7-cubic-meter cargo bay.
Equipped with a large rear cargo door, the aircraft can perform airdrop deliveries for logistics and emergency response. It can also be modified for marine monitoring, resource development, and infrastructure projects, said Yi-Tong’s General Manager Jin Ge.
The company plans to secure airworthiness certification by late 2025, with commercial operations expected in 2026. Yi-Tong has already secured 30 orders, including from ZTO Express.
Yi-Tong’s UAV production line in Yantai is expanding, with a new industrial park under construction. The company aims to produce 100 large UAVs annually by the end of 2025, supporting China’s push to develop its low-altitude economy.
