Patria has presented its ARVE self-propelled howitzer prototype at its Arctic Event in Rovaniemi, Finland, from March 17 to 19, unveiling new defense platforms with a focus on sub-arctic infantry operations.

The ARVE is based on the 155 K 98 towed howitzer and integrates the gun onto a SISU E13TP 8×8 truck, enhancing mobility while retaining the original weapon’s operation. The system can fire three rounds within 15 seconds, reaching a range of 40 km, and carries 24 complete rounds. The truck-mounted version can fire within 90 seconds of reaching position and relocate within 45 seconds after firing.

Patria plans test firings in the summer and seeks Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) approval for converting existing 155 mm guns. While the prototype keeps the original gun design to control costs, potential upgrades such as electrical laying are being considered. The company is also open to integrating other artillery pieces, including new-build guns if demand arises.

Alongside ARVE, Patria showcased other platforms, including its 6×6 armored personnel carrier (APC) under the multinational CAVS program, now operational in Finland, Latvia, and Sweden. The company also presented the FAMOUS all-terrain vehicle, developed under the European Defence Industrial Development Programme, designed to replace Cold War-era tracked vehicles like the Bv-206.
