Kuwait to Upgrade Patriot Missiles in $400M U.S. Deal
Missile launch from Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3)

The U.S. State Department has approved a $400 million Foreign Military Sale to Kuwait for upgrading and recertifying its Patriot missile systems, with the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notifying Congress of the decision.

The package includes enhancements for Patriot PAC-2 Guidance Enhanced Missiles (GEM) and GEM-T variants, as well as sustainment maintenance, training, and support services.

The upgrade is intended to extend the operational life of Kuwait’s Patriot systems, originally acquired in the early 1990s, ensuring their effectiveness against evolving regional threats. The principal contractor will be RTX Corporation, with work set to be carried out in Pennsylvania.
