Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever today announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth €1 billion, which includes the delivery of two F-16 fighter jets this year and two more next year.
The Belgian delegation, including Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot and Defense Minister Theo Francken, visited Bucha and Kyiv to express solidarity and support for Ukraine's defense efforts.
De Wever also announced a further €1 billion in military support every year. In addition several Belgian defense firms sought Ukrainian partners for manufacturing defense products in Ukraine.
De Wever wrote on X “Today, I visited Bucha and Kyiv at the invitation of President
@ZelenskyyUa.
Later, I had a good discussion with President Zelenskyy. We spoke about the urgent needs Ukraine is facing, and how Belgium and its defense industry can meet those needs as effectively as possible – both bilaterally and within the European framework.
Belgium and Europe’s commitment to Ukraine is not symbolic. It stems from the clear conviction that a resilient and strongly supported Ukraine is an absolute necessity for a safe Europe.”
