Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and DCX Systems Limited announced a new joint venture, ELTX, aimed at strengthening India’s defense technology base by localizing advanced radar and ground systems
The announcement supports the Indian Government’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat policies focused on building domestic capability in the defense sector.
ELTX is expected to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and technology related to high-end airborne radar and ground-based defense systems. The joint venture combines IAI’s expertise in developing radar and surveillance solutions with DCX’s manufacturing capacity in India. The venture is intended to enable India to operate, maintain, and enhance these systems independently while supporting local industry growth, job creation, and skill development.
IAI has previously taken several steps to build its presence in India. These include launching its Aerospace Services subsidiary, forming a partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, initiating an Innovation Acceleration Program with Indian deep-tech startups, and opening a facility in Hyderabad to improve maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for radar systems used by India’s Armed Forces.
Dror Bar, CEO of IAI’s ELTA division, said IAI’s technologies have long supported India’s tri-services. He said the new joint venture will strengthen the local design and development of defense electronics, helping India reduce dependence on foreign systems.
Dr. H.S. Raghavendra Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of DCX Systems, said the agreement marks a commitment to building defense capabilities tailored to the needs of the Indian Armed Forces. He said combining IAI’s radar technologies with DCX’s local expertise will support the production of systems for India’s defense environment.
IAI has worked with India for more than four decades, delivering technologies ranging from missile defense and UAVs to satellites and training systems. Its systems are in operational use across India’s military services and government agencies. DCX Systems, headquartered in Bangalore, manufactures RF and electronic systems for the defense and aerospace sectors from its modern production facility.
