The Defense Procurement Director (DPD) at the Israeli Ministry of Defense has signed a new contract with Israel Weapons Industries (IWI) for the supply of 7.62 mm Negev 7 and Negev UX machine guns.
The deal, signed through the Deputy Land Procurement Unit, includes a maintenance package aimed at ensuring long-term operational readiness for Israel Defense Forces (IDF) infantry units.
Deliveries of the machine guns are scheduled for 2026 and 2027, with the systems earmarked for use by IDF Ground Force units.
The inclusion of a maintenance package is intended to ensure sustained use of the weapons across a variety of missions.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the Negev UX machine gun was developed in collaboration with the IDF and played a prominent role during the recent “Iron Swords” war.
The 7.62mm Negev UX weighs just 6.8 kg and offers high firepower, accuracy, and low recoil. Its lightweight build, semi- and full-auto modes, and maneuverability made it effective in the Swords of Iron War, especially in fast-paced and close-quarters combat.
The weapon includes a long Picatinny rail for optics, M-LOK for accessories, IWI suppressor compatibility, a telescopic buttstock, and a two-position gas regulator for tough environments like mud or sand. It supports both urban and longer-range operations requiring precision and suppressive fire.
