Poland has signed an agreement with the United States to acquire 25 M1150 Assault Breacher Vehicles (ABVs) to strengthen the engineering and armored capabilities of its land forces.
The $115 million deal includes combat engineering vehicles, spare parts, training, and logistics support. Deliveries will be completed by 2029, with the vehicles assigned to the 18th Mechanized Division in Siedlce.
“These emergency engineering tanks clear minefields and technical obstacles, ensuring road access for our tanks and land forces,” said Deputy Defense Minister Paweł Bejda at the signing ceremony.
The M1150 ABV, built on the M1A1 Abrams chassis, is designed to breach minefields and demolish engineering barriers. Each vehicle has a modified turret, a front-mounted plow or blade, and a rear-mounted line charge launcher capable of detonating mines 100–150 meters ahead. For self-defense, it carries a 12.7 mm machine gun and smoke grenade launcher.
Crewed by a commander and driver, the highly automated vehicle supports near self-sufficient operation.
