Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced on August 21 that Tarnów Mechanical Works will accelerate the production of Pilica+ air defense systems in response to rising security demands.
“We are in a place important to Polish security, at the Tarnów Mechanical Works. Today I received a declaration that the Tarnów Mechanical Works will accelerate production of Pilica+ systems. The security situation demonstrates the importance of the capabilities of the Polish arms industry,” Kosiniak-Kamysz said during his visit to the facility.
The defense chief underlined that Tarnów’s role extends beyond Pilica+, contributing also to Poland’s Narew and Wisła air and missile defense programs. He pointed out that the plant has recorded a surge in revenues and workforce, now employing nearly 1,000 people, with 125 more set to be added by year’s end.
Kosiniak-Kamysz also confirmed the establishment of a Tarnów garrison to support the growing presence of military units in the region, describing the plant as a hub of defense production and organization.
“We are in the process of building a multi-layered air defense system for the Polish state. Before full integration with the IBCS and East Shield elements, including anti-drone systems, we need time. But the declaration I received today is clear: production will accelerate – and this is crucial,” he stressed.
Tarnów Mechanical Works, part of the Polish Armaments Group, designs and manufactures remotely controlled weapon modules, infantry support weapons such as 60 mm mortars and 40 mm grenade launchers, and precision-guided arms. The plant also operates its own Research and Development Center, engaged in both national and in-house defense programs.
