Finnish Patria presented its new CATCHR surveillance system at the EW Live event in Tartu, Estonia, on September 23, 2025.
The CATCHR is an electronic support measures (ESM) system designed to operate in congested and disrupted signal environments, offering real-time situational awareness and enabling operators to take rapid, information-based actions.
“Today’s electromagnetic battlefield can become congested and even the weakest signals can reveal a critical threat. Gaining an edge in reconnaissance and surveillance requires early and accurate detection and the ability to distinguish targets from a dense and dynamic signal environment,” said Mikko Leino, President of Patria’s Defence and Weapon Systems business area.
The CATCHR combines ESM functions with signals intelligence capabilities, intercepting, locating, and tracking radar transmitters to form an identified situational picture. Operators can also examine detailed signal signatures.
When deployed as a distributed sensor network, the system provides passive wide-area surveillance while remaining undetectable to adversaries. It is designed to detect and classify even the weakest radar transmissions, pinpoint threats with precision, and function passively without revealing its own position.
