Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled the LAHAT Alpha, the latest addition to its family of Laser-Homing Anti-Tank (LAHAT) missiles.
The new missile has an operational range of more than 20 kilometers and can be fired from vehicles or helicopters, allowing forces to strike high-value targets from stand-off distances and beyond line of sight (BLOS). The system uses laser spot guidance provided by ground or airborne designators, enabling precision engagement in environments where GPS signals may be denied or degraded, IAI said in a statement.
The two-meter-long, 25-kilogram missile is equipped with a large warhead available in anti-tank and fragmentation variants. The LAHAT Alpha is capable of destroying armored vehicles, penetrating fortified structures, striking coastal positions, and engaging fast-moving targets.
IAI emphasized that the system’s ease of operation allows operators to be trained in under a week.
The company said the new missile leverages three decades of experience from the original LAHAT, which has been in service with multiple land, naval, and air forces worldwide, including the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
