Russia Unveils New Drone Interceptor System at Interpolitex 2025

Rostec-owned Shvabe holding company has unveiled for the first time an automated system that uses interceptor drones to destroy unmanned aerial vehicles.

The system was presented at the Interpolitex 2025 exhibition in Moscow.

The new anti-drone platform is designed to provide early detection, tracking, and automated engagement of hostile UAVs. It includes a detection radar, optoelectronic reconnaissance and tracking systems, a computing unit, and an automated operator workstation. Once a threat is detected, a high-speed interceptor drone is launched from a special container, known as a droneport, to engage the target.

The system’s compact design allows all components—including control and power supply units—to be installed in the back of an all-terrain truck. This enables rapid deployment in remote or undeveloped areas, while also allowing for fixed installations when required.

The system can function independently or be integrated into multi-layered defense networks alongside other detection and engagement systems. Its computing module can also interface with a range of radar types.

“After determining the acquisition coordinates and confirming the target, the operator only has to issue the destroy command. The interceptor drone navigates independently and automatically targets the object using a neural network algorithm. This ensures the reliable destruction of UAVs that pose a threat to civilian infrastructure,” said Vadim Kalyugin, CEO of Shvabe and member of the Bureau of the Union of Mechanical Engineers of Russia.

Kalyugin added that the development is part of Rostec’s broader effort to enhance domestic counter-drone capabilities in response to growing aerial threats. The system is currently undergoing adjustments at a test site before being evaluated in real operational environments.

The 29th International Exhibition of National Security Equipment, Interpolitex 2025, is being held at Moscow’s VDNKh from October 28 to 30.
