The Netherlands Ministry of Defence has signed an agreement with the Dutch firm Robin Radar on Thursday to purchase 100 radars designed to provide early warning of approaching drones.
The first systems are scheduled for delivery today.
The Ministry stated that the radars can distinguish drones from birds and other moving objects, enabling forces to respond faster to aerial intrusions. The systems will be deployed across defence units, air bases and critical infrastructure.
The rapid procurement follows incidents involving drones spotted over Volkel and Eindhoven air bases, prompting an accelerated delivery schedule.
Deliveries will be phased, with all 100 radars expected by 2026. Vehicles supporting the systems are planned to arrive early next year.
