Brazil and Poland have signed new agreements to deepen cooperation on the Embraer KC-390 program, including steps toward joint production and regional aircraft support.
Embraer announced in Warsaw on December 2 that it had signed five new memorandums of understanding with Poland’s state-owned defense group Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) and several of its subsidiaries to expand long-term cooperation on the KC-390 Millennium military transport aircraft.
The agreements expand collaboration across supply chains, engineering, and advanced aviation testing. The arrangements also include plans to establish a regional maintenance and support hub in Central and Eastern Europe to serve future KC-390 operators, SavunmaSanayiST.com reports.
Poland has not formally selected the KC-390 for its air force. However, Warsaw-based sources told SavunmaSanayiST.com that the procurement process is being “seriously considered.”
The KC-390 is a medium-lift military transport aircraft designed for tactical and strategic airlift, medical evacuation, humanitarian relief, search and rescue, and aerial refueling missions. It has a maximum payload of 26 tons and can carry troops, armored vehicles, and pallets. The aircraft is capable of operating from semi-prepared and unpaved runways, including dirt and gravel surfaces.
