The final two F-16 Block 70 fighter jets ordered by Bulgaria under its first contract with Lockheed Martin arrived on Tuesday, completing the initial delivery of eight aircraft to the Bulgarian Air Force.
The jets touched down at 8:00 p.m. local time at the Third Air Base in Graf Ignatievo.
The aircraft arrived carrying U.S. Air Force insignia, which will be replaced with Bulgarian Air Force markings following their acceptance into service. With the latest delivery, Bulgaria now operates eight F-16 Block 70 fighters.
The deliveries conclude the first procurement agreement with Lockheed Martin. A second contract covers eight additional F-16 Block 70 aircraft, which are to complete a full squadron for the Bulgarian Air Force once delivered.
