Fincantieri has delivered the multipurpose combat ship KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 to the Indonesian Navy at its Muggiano shipyard in La Spezia, completing the handover of two large surface combatants ordered by Jakarta.
KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 follows the delivery of its sister ship, KRI Brawijaya-320, in July. The two ships, worth over €1 billion, are now the largest combat units in the Indonesian Navy and are intended for operations across the Indo-Pacific, supporting maritime security, patrol, humanitarian assistance, and disaster response missions.
The vessels are part of the Multipurpose Combat Ship, or PPA, class, designed for frontline combat as well as non-combat roles such as search and rescue and civil protection. They can deploy and recover rigid hull inflatable boats via a lateral crane or a stern hauling ramp, enabling operations in both coastal and open waters.
KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 is 143 metres long, has a top speed exceeding 31 knots, and carries a crew of 171 personnel. The ship is powered by a combined diesel and gas turbine propulsion system supported by electric propulsion, allowing flexible mission profiles.
