Indra Group and EDGE have agreed to establish a new defence manufacturing company in Spain focused on producing loitering munitions for Spanish and European defence programmes.
Subject to approval by the boards of both companies, the new entity will be set up as a dedicated manufacturing operation in Spain. It will support the development, production, assembly, and lifecycle support of loitering munitions and smart weapons, with the option to expand into additional defence capabilities as future requirements evolve.
Loitering munition systems are expected to be produced at a new facility in Villadangos de Páramo, in the province of León. The site will be developed by Indra with an estimated investment of around €20 million and is expected to create about 200 jobs once it reaches full capacity.
The companies estimate a multi-year order pipeline of approximately €2 billion linked to Spanish and broader European defence programmes. EDGE will provide expertise in loitering munitions and smart weapons, while Indra will contribute industrial infrastructure and programme execution within Europe.
In addition, a UAV micro-engine manufacturing facility is planned for Valladolid to support propulsion requirements for unmanned systems and reinforce domestic aerospace manufacturing capacity.
