Indonesia has received three Rafale fighter jets from France, the first batch of a multibillion-dollar defense deal.
A ministry spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft arrived on January 23 and are now stationed at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Base in Pekanbaru, on the western side of Sumatra. The jets are ready for operational use by the Indonesian Air Force, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The delivery is part of an $8 billion deal signed in 2022 and expanded last year, under which Indonesia will acquire a total of 42 Rafale fighter jets manufactured by Dassault Aviation.
The agreement also includes the purchase of French frigates and submarines.
