The French Directorate General of Armaments (DGA) has ordered the Heavy-Light Crossing System, Syfrall, to modernise the army’s river-crossing capabilities.
The contract, placed on 30 December 2025, was awarded to a temporary consortium (GME) of French companies Cnim Systèmes Industriels, Cefa and Soframe.
Eight Syfrall systems representing approximately 300 linear metres will be delivered to the army’s engineering regiments by the end of 2030, providing initial operational bridging capability for Combined Arms Tactical Groups (GTIA) equipped with modernised Leclerc tanks and Scorpion armoured vehicles.
Syfrall is a modular, truck-transportable system that allows rapid assembly of ferries or bridges using floating modules and loading ramps, replacing the current motorised floating bridge (PFM).
The programme is part of the European SAFE (Security for Action for Europe) initiative, enabling procurement on behalf of other countries and supporting multinational interoperability.
