Denmark, Sweden Donate Air Defense Guns to Ukraine

Denmark and Sweden have agreed to jointly donate Tridon Mk2 air defense guns to Ukraine as Russian strikes continue to target civilian infrastructure.

In an official statement, the Danish defense ministry said its contribution to the donation is valued at about DKK 300 million (approx. $47.5 million) and is financed through Donation Package 29, which was presented in December and approved earlier this year.

The donation covers enough Tridon Mk2 air defense guns to allow Ukraine to equip the equivalent of one air defense battalion, along with ammunition and spare parts. The systems are produced in Sweden, which has previously supplied Tridon guns to Ukraine.

“With the donation, Denmark is contributing to strengthening Ukraine's air defense capacity in the middle of a winter, when Russian air attacks on civilian infrastructure are affecting the country's energy supply,” Danish Minister of Defense Troels Lund Poulsen said. “Therefore, continued massive military support for Ukraine is crucial to giving Ukraine the muscle to resist and continue their fight for freedom.”

Following the adoption of Donation Package 29, around DKK 1.7 billion ($270 million) remains available in Denmark’s Ukraine Fund.
