Armenia showcased Indian-made ATAGS artillery systems, the Trajan truck-mounted 155 mm howitzer, the Pinaka multiple launch rocket and the Akash-1S air defense system during a display of latest military hardware last week in the capital, Yerevan.
The display was organized to mark the visit of an Indian delegation led by the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Anil Chauhan, various Armenian media reported.
The ATAGS (Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System) is a 155 mm Indian-developed towed howitzer with a firing range exceeding 45 km, designed for high accuracy, rapid deployment, and effective operation in challenging terrain, according to Armenian news outlet, 301.
The Trajan, manufactured in India under license, is a truck-mounted 155 mm / 52-caliber howitzer that emphasizes high mobility and rapid shoot-and-scoot capability, placing it in the same operational class as modern wheeled artillery systems used by NATO armies.
Among the showcased systems was the Pinaka MLRS, an Indian-made multiple launch rocket system capable of delivering saturation fire at ranges of up to 75 km, depending on the variant.
Armenia also displayed the Akash-1S, an Indian-developed medium-range air defense system designed to intercept aircraft, helicopters, drones, and cruise missiles, featuring an indigenous seeker that improves accuracy and resistance to electronic warfare.
An Indian defence delegation led by General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff, was in the Republic of Armenia on a four days official visit on 01 Feb.
India is offering more military hardware to Yerevan including some 8-10 Su-30MKI aircraft worth US$2.3 billion besides several new equipment.
