Rheinmetall has received an ammunition order worth around €200 million from the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA).
The order is the first batch under a 2025 framework agreement for 120mm tank ammunition.
The ammunition will be supplied to several NATO member countries. The 120mm rounds are used as the main armament on the Leopard 2 and the M1 Abrams tanks, which are operated by many NATO and allied nations.
The agreement, known as a Basic Contractual Instrument (BCI), was signed in July 2025. It sets out the terms and technical standards for various types of 120mm tank ammunition.
Under this framework, NATO and NATO-equivalent countries can place orders more easily through NSPA, simplifying the procurement process.
