North Korean leader Kim Jong Un unveiled newly produced 600mm multiple rocket launchers at a ceremony in Pyongyang, according to state media reports.

The event was held ahead of the Ninth Congress of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea, with the launchers presented by workers in the country’s munitions industry as a contribution to the party congress.

According to KCNA, the system is described as a powerful short-range weapon aimed at strengthening the country’s self-defense capabilities and advancing military modernization and deterrence efforts.

The 600mm system is believed to be one of the largest-caliber rocket artillery weapons developed by North Korea. It is designed to fire short- to medium-range rockets carrying heavy conventional payloads, with analysts saying it could be used to strike military bases and key facilities.

Unlike ballistic missiles, multiple rocket launchers are usually mounted on wheeled vehicles, allowing for rapid firing and quick relocation. The system displayed in Pyongyang appeared to be vehicle-mounted, highlighting its mobility and quick-strike capability.
