KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 arrived in Jakarta on March 26, following a 44-day voyage from La Spezia, Italy, marking the induction of a new Pattugliatore Polivalente d’Altura (PPA) class vessel into the Indonesian Navy fleet.

The warship was received during a ceremony at Pier 107, Tanjung Priok, led by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, with attendance from Ministry of Defense Secretary General Lieutenant General Tri Budi Utomo and other senior officials.

Built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri, the vessel forms part of Indonesia’s ongoing defense modernization efforts. The ship is designed to support maritime operations across multiple domains, including surface, subsurface, and air warfare, as well as humanitarian and search and rescue missions.

KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 departed La Spezia Naval Base on February 11 and followed a route via the Cape of Good Hope, unlike its sister ship KRI Brawijaya-320, which transited the Suez Canal. During the journey, it made port calls in Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, and Mauritius.

The ship was commissioned on December 22, 2025, at Fincantieri’s Muggiano shipyard in La Spezia. Prior to departure, it completed sea trials in Italy, including live-fire exercises with its 127 mm and 76 mm guns.

Measuring 143 meters in length with a displacement of over 6,000 tons, the vessel is equipped with a 127 mm Vulcano main gun, a 76 mm Strales gun, 16 vertical launch systems, Teseo Mk-2E anti-ship missiles, anti-submarine torpedoes, and close-range automated weapon systems. It also features a Naval Cockpit system for integrated digital control of navigation and combat systems.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali said the ship would be deployed to the Koarmada II Escort Unit in Surabaya due to the base’s operational support capabilities.

The Indonesian Navy plans to upgrade its two PPA vessels to full combat configuration, with the potential integration of complete missile systems, including Aster 30, domestically.
