The World Health Organization (WHO) says that 52 paramedics have been killed in Lebanon in the war this month as Israel fires missiles at ambulances ferrying the wounded to hospital.
According to Hareetz, Israel claims that the ambulances are used to transfer arms to Hezbolla fighters. However, the Israeli newspaper reports that the IDF shard an old video as “proof.” “As proof of Israel's claims, the IDF referred Haaretz to a two-year-old post on X, noting that according to 'assessments,' Hezbollah uses the vehicles to transport operatives and weapons.”
Separately, Six Red Cross staff were injured in the attack on Sunday night, and three patients with light shrapnel wounds who were being transported sustained critical injuries.
Lebanese media, MPN reported that Israel targeted over 100 mbulances in only 2 weeks.
As the Lebanon death toll continues to climb, with over 1,039 killed and 2,876 wounded, a campaign of targeting medical workers fighting to save lives has developed.
Lebanon's minister for public health, Mohammed Jawad Khalifa, reported two earlier attacks on ambulances. One attack occurred near Burjel-Shemali. The driver lost an arm, and two passengers were injured. The other took place on the Zahrani bridge, scene of frequent Israeli air strikes. The driver lost both legs.
Dr Khalifa predicted that the country would begin to run out of medical supplies in five days.
