China intends to deploy drones along its coast line as maritime quarrels with its neighbours continue to grow. Chinese officials made the announcement as tensions with neighbours grow over the disputed South and North China Sea islands. "The plan also includes the construction of 11 UAV bases run by provincial maritime authorities," said Yu Qingsong, a division chief of the State Oceanic Administration. China will launch the drones in an effort to conduct "remote-sensing marine surveillance" along the country’s coastline. Yu provided no further details on the project except that at least one would be stationed at each base. According to State-run media, China last year launched a program where Drones successfully took aerial photos of a 980 square kilometer sea area.
