Canada Awards LRSS Upgrade Contract To General Dynamics

General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada (GDLS-C), was awarded a $9.5 million contract by the Canadian Government earlier this week, for defining, analyzing and selecting an enhanced surveillance suite to be integrated into Canadian LAV III Upgrade vehicles. According to a statement, under the LAV Reconnaissance Surveillance Suite (LRSS) Upgrade Program, a competitive procurement would be undertaken for a new surveillance suite, mast and operator control station which will be integrated on to 66 upgraded LAV III vehicles. The 66 upgraded LAV III vehicles were previously ordered by the Government of Canada in November 2012, through a $133 million contract modification to the LAV III Upgrade contract, originally valued at $1 billion. Work on the contract is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2014.
