AgustaWestland, Embraer Announce Latin American JV For Helicopter Production

Embraer S.A. and AgustaWestland, today announced an MoU aimed at establishing a JV for Brazilian AW helicopter production, which will be marketed in Brazil and Latin America for commercial and military purposes.

      Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer President and CEO, called this an important step for business expansion, adding that, “The merging of skills and competencies by the two entities will be a great value-add for customers in the region”.

      Agusta Westland CEO, Bruno Spagnolini, said, “The MoU with Embraer for Brazilian helicopter manufacture and marketing will create an industrial presence in the country, further enabling business growth in one of the world’s fastest growing economies”.

      Preliminary studies show strong market potential for twin engine, medium lift helicopters, especially to meet the requirements of the offshore oil and gas market. Other key market sectors, such as executive transport and military, show promising potential as well.

      The partners aim at establishing the JV within a few months once a final agreement has been reached and the relevant approvals have been obtained.
