Russia’s state arms exporter will deliver more than $13 billion worth of military equipment to foreign customers in 2013, a senior official was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti.

“It’s a new record. We have been increasing sales every year,” Russian Technologies (Rostech) CEO Sergei Chemezov said at the Dubai Air Show 2013.

Chemezov said Rosoboronexport’s current portfolio of foreign orders amounted to $38 billion.

Russia became the world’s second-largest arms exporter after the United States in 2011, generating $13.2 billion in revenues.

Last year, it exported $15.2 billion worth of weaponry while adding Afghanistan, Ghana, Oman and Tanzania to a list of about 80 foreign customers. Rosoboronexport’s sales last year amounted to $12.9 billion, 85 percent of all of Russia’s military export sales.

Rosoboronexport said Friday that helicopters and air defense systems accounted for 58 percent of Russia’s arms exports in 2012.
