Selex ES is showcasing a range of ISTAR, air defence, naval and homeland security systems, with a particular focus on its complete family of Kronos multipurpose AESA radars at Bahrain International Air Show 2014.

“The whole Gulf region is strategic for Selex ES and Bahrain in particular has a number of requirements for sophisticated defence-electronic equipment that we are perfectly positioned to meet” said Selex ES’s regional marketing manager for Bahrain, Luca Gennaretti.

Operating out of a branch office in Manama, Selex ES’s previous experience in Bahrain is significant. Two key projects saw the company supplying two primary surveillance radars and three Mode-S secondary surveillance radars for Bahrain’s Civil Aviation and Air Force, enhancing the safety and efficiency of national airspace management.

Elsewhere in the Gulf, Selex ES has supplied critical airport systems including a networking data infrastructure to allow data exchange in the Kuwait City airport and air traffic control and terminal area manoeuvre systems for the New Doha International Airport in Qatar. The company is also strongly positioned in the UAE as the lead supplier of naval combat systems to the UAE Navy, working on high profile projects such as the Abu Dhabi-class Corvette, FALAJ-2 class OPV and Ghannatha Class FPB. The company’s joint venture with Abu Dhabi Ship Building, Abu Dhabi Systems Integration (ADSI), is currently working on the manufacture and integration of combat systems for the six UAE Navy Baynunah corvettes, as well as supplying command and control systems for the UAE Armed Forces’ new high-speed Ghannatha patrol boats.

Such naval systems will be a key part of Selex ES’s offer at the airshow, with the company promoting its complete Combat System Integration solutions for naval vessels. These will include such technologies as naval radar, combat management systems, radar fire control systems, E/O fire control systems, integrated naval communications, mission planning and MDLP.

Also on show will be the company’s range of air defence radars, including the RAT 31D/L and RAT 31DL-M, Kronos Grand and Kronos Land. The company will also highlight its strong portfolio of capabilities for the protection of offshore and inland oil platforms, providing critical infrastructure protection and security.

Selex ES will also be promoting its latest airborne technologies. As the only European firm able to produce an entire unmanned system, from sensors to platform to mission control, the company will be promoting its Falco Unmanned Aerial System (UAS). Falco was recently selected by a Middle Eastern country, the fifth customer for the system.
