Insitu Wins $21M To Maintain US Navy RQ-21A Blackjack Drones
RQ-21A Small Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System

Insitu is being awarded $21 million against a previously issued basic ordering agreement providing or the procurement of spare and sustainment parts to maintain the RQ-21A Blackjack unmanned aircraft system in support of Naval Special Warfare fleet operations.

Work is expected to be completed in June 2018, US department of defense said in a statement  Tuesday.

Fiscal 2015 and 2017 aircraft procurement (Navy) funds in the amount of $20,996,265 are being obligated at the time of award; $1,437,645 of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year.  The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.

The RQ-21A includes Day/Night Full Motion Video (FMV) cameras, infrared marker and laser range finder, and Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers. The ability to rapidly integrate payloads allows warfighters to quickly insert the most advanced and relevant payload for their land/maritime missions and counter-warfare actions.
