Iran’s domestically made advanced battle tank “Karrar” is slated to enter in service with the armed forces soon, Commander of Iran’s Army Ground Force Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari said Thursday.
Heidari was quoted as saying by Tasnim news agency that Karrar is one of the country’s unique products and the contract for employing has been signed by the Army Ground Force.
The tank is planned to be employed in the missions and war games of the Army Ground Force soon, the commander added.
It was reported in July 2017 that the Karrar tanks will be delivered to the Army Ground Force by March 20, 2018.
The Karrar (striker) is a new Iranian main battle tank. It is a significantly upgraded version of the Iranian T-72S tank. Unveiled in March last year, it reportedly has a close resemblance to the Russian-made T-90MS, and features an electro-optical fire control system, a laser rangefinder, ballistic computer and could fire at both stable and mobile targets in day or night.
