At least ten explosions rocked the Belgorod International Airport in Russia on Sunday, with Moscow claiming that Ukraine’s Air Force was behind the missile attacks.

Pictures and videos published by local media showed columns of smoke rising over the airport.

Belgorod Oblast Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on Telegram that two people were injured in the apparent missile attack. U.S.-made AGM-88 HARM anti-radiation missiles are believed to be used in the air raids.

Military experts said on social media that the attack might have been directed at Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile batteries that are thought to have shot down two Ukrainian aircraft recently.

Google Maps images indicate that the airport was also used for military purposes. MilitaryAviation.UA claims Russia operated helicopters and attack aircraft from the Airport in the aggression against Ukraine.

Meanwhile, gunmen killed 11 people in an attack at a Russian military training ground in Belgorod region on October 15.

"During a firearms training session with individuals who voluntarily expressed a desire to participate in the special military operation [against Ukraine], terrorists opened fire with small arms on the personnel of the unit," Russian government-controlled RIA reported. "As a result of the shooting, 11 people were fatally wounded. Another 15 people with wounds of varying severity were taken to a medical facility."

On the same day, an oil depot near Belgorod caught fire as a result of shelling.
