EDGE Group has announced its successful bid for a contract to supply the U.A.E. Ministry of Defence with SKYSHIELD C-UAS and NAVCONTROL-G multi-layered counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS).

The announcement was made during the Unmanned Systems Exhibition and Conference (UMEX) 2024, EDGE announced Tuesday.

Under the terms of the contract, EDGE Group will deliver SIGN4L’s advanced SKYSHIELD C-UAS and NAVCONTROL-G systems. The SKYSHIELD C-UAS offers both situational awareness and soft-kill capabilities against unmanned aerial threats. This enables the comprehensive protection of critical infrastructure and ensures the integrity of national borders.

EDGE initially unveiled the Skyshield system at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) in Abu Dhabi in February 2023. The system can be tailored for fixed installations in key areas to safeguard static sites. Additionally, it is designed to be rapidly deployable, providing a versatile solution for a wide range of civilian and military vehicles, trucks, and ships.

Featuring automated 360° detect and defeat capabilities for anti-drone protection, the Skyshield system is targeted at military, law enforcement, security, and VIP protection markets.

On the other hand, NAVCONTROL-G delivers protection against hostile UAVs through the deployment of sophisticated jamming and spoofing measures against guidance systems reliant on global navigation satellite systems (GNSS). NAVCONTROL-G produces covert GNSS denial and emulation signals to safely distance unmanned vehicle threats.

With a range of up to 50 km for both spoofing and jamming, the system provides static and dynamic spoofing modes. These modes simulate contradictory alternative paths, thereby safeguarding areas of interest and offering a comprehensive solution to counter unmanned vehicle threats.
