The Ministry of Investment (MISA) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the General Authority for Military Industries (GAMI), and Leonardo revealed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the ongoing World Defence Show in Riyadh.
The MoU aims to facilitate discussions, development, and evaluation of investment and collaboration opportunities within the defense and aerospace sector.
The agreement spans various sectors where Leonardo possesses advanced technological capabilities, including space, rotorcraft, electronics and sensors, Combat Air, Cross-Domain Integration, uncrewed systems, digital technologies, industrialization, and services.
The announcement took place during an official ceremony, emphasizing the collaborative efforts to explore potential areas of cooperation. Among the possibilities outlined in the MoU are the space industry, airframe Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), localizing electronic warfare systems and radars, and assembling helicopters.
The agreement also delves into specific collaborative focus areas in Combat Air and Cross-Domain Integration, targeting next-generation technology initiatives and demonstration projects. These areas encompass uncrewed systems, integrated sensors, digital technologies, industrialization processes, and human capital development.
Leonardo aims to collaborate with local technological partners, research establishments, and end-users to foster sustained development and production within the country.
The MoU is expected to significantly contribute to the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, focusing on reforms, economic diversification, and growth opportunities.
