Thailand's Chaiseri, unveiled its First Win (FW) series armoured vehicles at the Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2024 exhibition held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur from May 6th to May 9th.
The exhibit showcased three variants of the First Win series, each tailored for specific military applications. Kan Koolhiran, Managing Director of Thai Defense Industry (TDI), a collaboration between Chaiseri and Thailand's Defense Technology Institute (DTI), provided insights into the capabilities of these vehicles.
"We have these three 4x4 vehicles here," stated Koolhiran, as reported by GBP Aerospace & Defence. "First is the Armored Fighting Vehicle (AFV), featuring front protection rated at STANAG level three and STANAG level two for the rest, equipped with a (remotely-controlled) 30 mm calibre gun."
Koolhiran continued, detailing the Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) version, capable of transporting up to eleven personnel. "Hundreds of this version have been deployed by Thailand's military and exported to Indonesia, Bhutan, and Malaysia," he mentioned.
The third variant, the Armored Reconnaissance Vehicle (ARV), distinguished itself with a notably low profile, standing at a maximum height of two meters and featuring a centrally positioned driver's seat.
Responding to inquiries about potential collaborations with defense companies across Southeast Asia, Koolhiran emphasized TDI's openness to partnerships. "We are always open to collaboration with other countries," he affirmed. "We're keen on supporting local defense industries and reducing reliance on overseas suppliers."
