Ukraine has conducted tests of the Gnom, a new ground drone developed by TEMERLAND.
The Gnom is armed with anti-tank grenade launchers and a machine gun, and it is designed to provide fire support for soldiers on the battlefield. The drone is also equipped with a system for laying mines, including anti-tank mines, expanding its role beyond direct fire support.
According to TEMERLAND, the Gnom is a multi-functional platform that can also be used for tasks such as transporting the wounded and clearing anti-personnel mines. The company stated that its ability to be remotely controlled will enable more non-contact combat operations, which could help reduce casualties.
The Gnom weighs 88 kilograms, has a maximum speed of 5.5 km/h, and a payload capacity of 40 kilograms. It can be controlled from a distance of up to 2,000 meters. The platform is also capable of being outfitted with additional weaponry, including four RPG-7 rocket-propelled grenades, and can install mines such as the TM-62 anti-tank mine and the MON-90 heavy anti-personnel mine.
TEMERLAND noted that the Gnom is designed to operate under electronic warfare conditions. The tests were carried out before the system is deployed to the front lines, where Ukrainian forces will assess its effectiveness in combat.
This test follows the May trials of another TEMERLAND system, the Solomandra robotic platform, which is aimed at assisting in demining operations.
