Turkey’s ASELSAN Sells ASELFLIR-500 to Azerbaijan

ASELSAN signed agreements with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense at the ADEX 2024 arms fair in Baku, finalizing the sale of the ASELFLIR-500 sensors and TOLUN UAV besides the joint production of smart munitons.

The agreements include communication and information security systems, an MoU on electronic warfare with the National Aerospace Agency (MAKA), and a joint production deal for ASELSAN Smart Munitions with the Scientific Research Institution (ETI).

On the first day of ADEX 2024, ASELSAN showcased the ASELFLIR-500 Electro-Optical Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Targeting System, notable for its superior performance in UAVs. Developed domestically following Canada’s embargo on drone cameras to Türkiye, the ASELFLIR-500 was demonstrated live for the first time at an international exhibition.

The ASELFLIR-500 features high-resolution electro-optical and infrared sensors, allowing for effective reconnaissance and target acquisition in diverse weather conditions and lighting scenarios. Its modular design facilitates seamless integration with various air platforms. With a range of up to 30 kilometers, it supports real-time data transmission, ensuring operators receive immediate situational awareness—an essential feature for modern military operations.

Additionally, ASELSAN introduced TOLUN, a next-generation tactical UAV system designed for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance. TOLUN features advanced avionics, high endurance, and the capability to carry multiple payloads, including electro-optical sensors. Its autonomous flight capabilities and secure data links enhance its effectiveness in complex environments.

ASELSAN also showcased including air platform payloads, radars, guided munitions, and communication solutions. Highlights included the Tactical Field Communication System (TASMUS), the SAGER-100 thermal sight for the KORNET-E anti-tank missile, the 40 mm ŞAHİN destruction system, and the Mobile Search Radar (MAR), all on display for the first time.
