The Israel-based Baz Aviation Structurals Production Facility, which produces components for both military and civil aviation, was struck by a kamikaze UAV, suspected to have been launched by Hezbollah from southern Lebanon.
The incident occurred in the Western Galilee region, near the coastal city of Akka and the city of Karmiel, resulting in two fatalities and additional injuries among facility workers.
The IDF has confirmed that a drone launched from Lebanon hit the industrial zone, and additional details are under investigation. Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based militant group, has not claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Baz facility, located within the Ber Lav industrial zone, produces structural parts used in high-profile military aircraft, including the Airbus A400M Military Transport Aircraft, Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle Fighter Jet, Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules Military Transport Aircraft, and Lockheed Martin F-16 Fighting Falcon Fighter Jet. The Israeli Air Force actively operates these platforms, with Baz playing a crucial role in maintaining the combat readiness of these aircraft.
Following the attack, Israeli army radio confirmed that the Baz facility manufactures critical components for defense industry and civil aviation structures, further underlining the significance of the site to Israel's aviation sector. Damage to the facility has been reported, though the full extent remains under assessment.
