The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has approved the deployment of the Droid TW 12.7, a robotic combat system designed to support military operations.
Developed by DevDroid, the unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) is equipped with a 12.7 mm Browning machine gun, offering firepower while keeping personnel out of harm’s way.
This robotic system, which underwent extensive testing before adoption, operates on a tracked platform suited for challenging terrains. With a modular design and targeting systems, the Droid TW 12.7 can engage targets up to 1,000 meters away and is remotely controlled via secure digital communications.
Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov emphasized that the system's codification marks a critical step in integrating innovation into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The system supports a wide range of roles, including reconnaissance, combat support, patrolling, and mine clearance. Enhanced by digital communication systems such as Starlink, the Droid TW 12.7 ensures operational flexibility even in hostile environments.
Ukraine’s strategy to incorporate robotic systems aligns with its broader modernization efforts, which have included the induction of over 120 weapon systems in 2024.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced on Sept. 24 that Ukraine has established a three-year plan focused on producing drones, electronic warfare systems, and ground robotic platforms. Strategic Industries Minister Herman Smetanin revealed on Nov. 12 that Ukraine's 2025 budget allocates Hr 55 billion ($1.3 billion) to bolster domestic weapons production.
