The Netherlands armed forces are set to receive the first batch of new military radios next year as part of the ‘Foxtrot’ program, aimed at modernizing tactical communication and IT infrastructure.
This was announced by State Secretary Gijs Tuinman on Thursday.
The Ministry of Defense has procured combat net radios (CNRs) from U.S.-based L3Harris, including software, peripherals, and system integration services. The new CNRs will replace outdated systems, allowing for more secure and long-distance communication. These radios will also improve interoperability across different military branches and international operations.
The first large-scale delivery will equip the 44th Battalion Task Force in Havelte, followed by other operational units, including the Corps Commando Troops, Defence Helicopter Command, and the Marine Corps.
