Germany has exercised an option for 20 additional H145M light combat helicopters, increasing its total order to 82 aircraft under a contract signed in December 2023.
Airbus Helicopters confirmed the order, describing it as a strong endorsement of the H145M’s performance and versatility.
The first H145M helicopter was delivered in November 2024, less than a year after the contract was signed, with additional aircraft already delivered.
The helicopters will be used for missions including training, reconnaissance, special forces operations and light attack.
Under the agreement, the German Army will receive 72 helicopters, while the Luftwaffe’s special forces will operate the remaining ten.
The H145M is a multi-role military helicopter that can be rapidly reconfigured for different mission profiles. The H145 family has logged more than eight million flight hours worldwide and is operated by military and law enforcement forces globally, including the US Army as the UH-72 Lakota.
