U.S. Invites Russia’s Putin to Join Gaza Peace Council

The United States has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to join a U.S.-led Gaza Peace Council, the Kremlin said on Monday, confirming the offer was delivered through diplomatic channels and is under review.

President Putin also received an invitation to join this Board of Peace,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted as saying by state media. He added that Russia was seeking to “clarify all the nuances” of the proposal with Washington before responding.

Peskov said Moscow is examining the council’s mandate and expects further contact with the U.S. side.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the formation of the Peace Council late last week as part of a broader plan aimed at a ceasefire and postwar governance in Gaza. Trump is set to chair the body, with announced members including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, investor and presidential adviser Jared Kushner, Deputy National Security Advisor Robert Gabriel, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, and World Bank President Ajay Banga.

Invitations were also sent to the leaders of Egypt, Turkey, Brazil, Argentina, Greece, Albania, India and Canada, while Hungary and Uzbekistan have already accepted, reports say. The invitation letters reportedly included a draft charter outlining oversight of reconstruction and political transition in Gaza, with claims that member states would be required to make financial contributions.

The Peace Council is linked to a U.S. framework backed by a United Nations Security Council resolution adopted in November, supported by 13 of the council’s 15 members, with Russia and China abstaining. The plan includes provisions for temporary international governance of Gaza and the deployment of a stabilization force in coordination with Israel and Egypt.
