The U.S. State Department on January 30 approved multiple possible Foreign Military Sales to Israel worth an estimated $8.67 billion, covering air, ground, and armored vehicle capabilities, with the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) notifying Congress.

The largest case, valued at $3.8 billion, involves the sale of 30 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters. The package includes engines, fire control radars, targeting and night vision systems, missile warning systems, radios, navigation equipment, training missiles, simulators, spare parts, and technical and logistics support. Boeing and Lockheed Martin are the principal contractors.

A separate $1.98 billion approval covers the sale of 3,250 Joint Light Tactical Vehicles in multiple variants, along with remotely operated weapon stations, trailers, communications and command equipment, protection kits, training systems, spare parts, and depot-level maintenance support. AM General is listed as the principal contractor.

The State Department also cleared a $740 million package for Namer Armored Personnel Carrier power packs without transmissions, supported by an integrated logistics package including tools, documentation, spare parts, and contractor assistance. The systems are intended for Namer vehicles first fielded in 2008, with Rolls-Royce Solutions America named as the principal contractor.

In addition, Washington approved a $150 million expansion of an earlier Foreign Military Sales case for AW119Kx light utility helicopters. The request adds helicopters, ground support equipment, tools, spare parts, training, and logistics support to a previously unnotified $78.2 million case. Leonardo Helicopters USA is the principal contractor.

The United States said the proposed sales are intended to support Israel’s ability to defend its borders, infrastructure, and population centers, and to maintain interoperability with U.S. forces.

The approvals do not represent final contracts and remain subject to congressional review.
