Indian MoD Approves Rafale Aircraft, Combat Missiles and Pseudo Satellites Procurement Worth $40 billion

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has approved defence procurement proposals worth INR 3.60 lakh crore (approximately $40 billion) on February 12, 2026.

For the Indian Air Force, approvals include Multi Role Fighter Aircraft (MRFA) likely including jets such as Dassault Rafale along with combat missiles and Air-Ship Based High Altitude Pseudo Satellites (AS-HAPS) to strengthen air dominance and ISR capabilities.

The Indian Army has received clearance for Anti-Tank Mines (Vibhav) and upgrades of T-72 tanks, BMP-2 vehicles, and Armoured Recovery Vehicles.

The Indian Navy will procure a 4 MW Marine Gas Turbine-based Electric Power Generator under the Make-I category and additional Boeing P-8I Neptune aircraft.

The Indian Coast Guard will acquire Electro-Optical/Infra-Red systems for Dornier 228 aircraft.
